Hidden among the forests near the village of Mosty, in a quiet hollow between two hills, lies Rynva Spring – a locally protected hydrological natural monument and one of the hidden gems of the Dermansko-Ostrozkyi National Nature Park.
The spring emerges at the foot of a hillside, beneath the spreading branches of an old sycamore maple. From there, crystal-clear, cold water flows through a traditional wooden trough into a small pool. For generations, local residents have believed the spring’s water to have healing properties, and stories and legends about this place have been passed down from one generation to the next.
The landscape surrounding Rynva Spring is just as captivating as the spring itself. Nestled within a deciduous forest of mature trees, the area is home to a variety of rare plant species that thrive on its rocky slopes. Among them are maidenhair spleenwort (Asplenium trichomanes), brittle bladder fern (Cystopteris fragilis), shining currant (Ribes spicatum), and the dark-red helleborine (Epipactis atrorubens), a species listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine. The combination of fresh spring water, shaded woodland, and rolling hills creates a landscape of remarkable tranquillity.
Today, Rynva Spring is a favourite stop for visitors exploring the park. It is a place to pause, fill a bottle with cool spring water, listen to the sounds of the forest, and enjoy the quiet beauty of one of the region’s most peaceful natural settings.
